    AWESOME Helicopter!

    Here’s a few things I learned.

    1. You can’t fly this in bright outdoor sunlight. Sunlight affects it.

    2. After a hard crash the helicopter turns off. It’s a safety feature. If the light under the nose is off, turn the helicopter “off” then “on” again and it will reset.

    3. The rear rotor only spins when the helicopter is directed to fly forward or backward. Don’t expect it to turn all the time.

    4. Xheli’s customer service was top-notch. I sent e-mails with my questions and they quickly and patiently addressed them.

Overall – awesome helicopter. You’ll be impressed (and intimidated when it’s at eye level) as it moves with perfect precision. Yes, perfect!

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2UUKQAM9MJ34W VIDEO DISCLAIMER: If you watch the video, please ignore the ugly yellow chair and unfolded clean clothes on the ugly couch. Obviously my money is going towards toys rather than furniture. I’m still learning how to fly the helicopter, so forgive the spastic movements.

In the past I had been given (as a gift) an outdoor helicopter, which was basically destroyed in a couple of days. From that experience and through research I had come to the conclusion that I was going to have to be willing to pay an amazing amount of money to have any type of quality helicopter to just mess around with. After visiting a local Toys ‘R Us looking for a gift for my nephew, I wandered over to the RC area and used the new barcode scan function of amazon (I know I sound like an Amazon advertiser…ha) from my iPhone to look up a couple of different options for an RC Helicopter.

Once I got home, a lot of the reviews for the actual small size helicopter I was looking for led me to the S107 and they were right. It’s made of a lot better quality (actual metal) than the other option. So I bit, I bought it and have loved it ever since.

I have wrecked it a couple of times, more out of ignorance than the controls, and it has lasted like a champ. Easy to charge, fly and overall a great buy for the price. I would absolutely recommend this.

This is the first toy helicopter that actually responds to controls. Within a few minutes I was hopping it on one TV tray to the next. After playing with it for about 10 minutes, I decided I needed another one and logged back into Amazon and ordered a second one. Now I can’t wait for my grand kids to come over…

My helicopter lasted about a week. After one week it stopped responding the controller. I have taken it apart, checked solder points, wires, and everything that I can think of. But it just simply stopped responding to the controller. It turns on but does absolutely nothing. It was certainly fun while it lasted.

I’ve never flown an RC helicopter and I’ve always wanted to try so at first I bought the SYMA 3 Channel S013 Mini UH-60 Black Hawk RC Helicopter —NEW!. I liked it so much, I then bought the Syma S022 Big Army Chinook 3 Channel RC Radio Remote Control Helicopter. I was so hooked, I finally bought the New Syma 3 Channel S107 Mini Indoor Co-Axial Metal Body Frame & Built-in Gyroscope RC Remote Controlled Helicopter.

The S107 is the easiest to fly out of the three. The S022 is too big to fly indoors if you don’t have a lot of space. The S013 is the smallest, but I’d recommend paying the extra $12-$13 for the S107 as the quality of the item is far better.

I would say the S107 is the best bang for your buck for indoor RC helis. Highly recommended!

This is my 3rd indoor micro heli, and this one by far, is the best I’ve flown. Its very durable. You can charge it with a USB or a cord outta the transmitter. Right outta the box I didnt even have to trim it out. Its the most stable heli Ive ever seen. Highly reccomended!

I got a Syma S009 for my son but the flight was horrible so I did some more research and found that this is a very popular model among hobbyist so I decided to give it a try. For about $10 more than the S009, the difference is night and day. The control is much easier and you barely need to use the trim on this model. I have already ordered spare parts for this one just in case. There are a lot of vendors on the web or on auction site who sell every spare parts for this little heli.

This is a great helicopter. I have a havoc, which retails around the same price as this heli. However all I can get that havoc to do is hover in place with it’s body slowly spinning no matter how I tweak it. Front and back motion with a havoc you can forget about. With this Syma heli I had it going forward and backwards with-in 30 seconds. It hovers easily and the body stays in position with no rotation. The little propeller you can see on the back pushes it forward or back ward. I was circling the room and felt I could place it where ever I wanted with little effort. It is so much easier to control then the havoc and you can truly fly it. The only thing I can not attest to is it’s durability. However i can say that it controled so well I never felt I was going to crash it or bump into something actidently, so in that regard I think it should do well. I held off on getting this due to my havoc experiences and not wanting to toss away [...] bucks on something similar, but I agree with all of the otehr postive reviews that this is a far better experience and heli.

I ordered this helicopter along with 3 other helicopters. 3 from Syma and one off brand helicopter. I ordered multiple helicopters because the only ones I have flown have been 2 channel and if one broke I would have backup. I ordered the Syma S107 and S105 at the same time, and the S107 arrived first and the S105 arrived the next day. On my frist flight of the S107 I was suprised how stable and smooth the flight was. The box says 14 and up but I think anyone could control this helicopter. It goes up, down, left, right, forward, and backwards, all at a balanced speed thats good for indoor flight. It is not too slow to be boring or too fast that you can’t controll it. The trim button on the controller is pretty much not needed because it does not spin out of control. I still havnt adjusted the trim after about 20 flights. Also, both Syma helicopters are VERY durable since they are made of metal and hard plastic. The blades are also durable. There are some differences in the S107 and S105. The S105 is slightly wider and slightly longer. It also has two LED lights on each side and one in the front, a total of 6, which can be cool or annoying, it just depends on preference. The s107 has a single light on the front. The S105 seems to spin out more than the S107 and is more difficult to trim. This is an obvious flaw that was addressed with the newer S107, because it does not spin out at all. They both can be charged with the controller or through a USB port on your computer which is good if you don’t want to waste your batteries on your controller. They both use 6 AA batteries in the controller. Both helicopters are extremely durable and have been crashed several times. My only complaint with them is the flight time is only around 5 minutes, although I don’t have anything to compare it to because the other 2 helicopters I ordered are still not here yet after about a week and a half. Also, the only option for shipping is standard shipping. Overall I would recommend the S107 over the S105 because of the trim issue with the S105, but both are excellent helicopters and they are a very good price.

I have several E flight helicopters so I thought I would compare this to the blade micro line–the blade MCX2 compares to this one in terms of size but there are some major differences.

–The blade MCX2 RTF goes for $120, this one goes for under $30.

–The Blade MCX2 uses a four channel 2.4 Ghz DSM radio which offers more maneuverability and more range. It is also bindable to other radios in the DSM2 line. The Syma uses an infrared 3 channel radio. Infrared needs to be in the line of sight, has much less range and can suffer from interference from bright light and other sources. The MCX2 uses a nearly foolproof radio system.

–Both the MCX2 and the Syma vary the speed of the motors to control the directional rotation (yaw).

–The MCX2 uses a swash-plate to vary the pitch of the lower roter, thus giving you the ability to move left/right/forward/backward; the Syma uses a small up/down tail motor to change the pitch of the helicopter and propel it forward or backward. You cannot really move it left or right, but you can turn the helicopter right and move it forward.

–The Blade MCX2 uses a replaceable 120mAh 14C single-cell 3.7V LiPo battery–the Syma also uses a 3.7V Lipo, although to get to it you have to remove the canopy which requires a very small screwdriver. This isn’t a big deal, but it means that you can only fly it for 5-8 minutes then you have to recharge it. With the MCX2 you can simply switch out the battery and keep flying. Your flight time is limited only by the number of spare batteries you have with the blade MCX2.

–The syma is built like a tank–and this is probably the most surprising thing–although it is much less expensive it seems to be over-engineered, at least in terms of its main body. That said, it isn’t really much of an advantage because the MCX2 is so light that even if you slam it into a wall it usually just bounces off with no damage. The Syma does the same thing, of course, but the extra weight of the metal frame (vs. plastic in the MCX2) certainly contributes to shorter flight times.

There are some other differences as well but I think you get the idea. The Syma packs an incredible amount of technology into a box for $30…you can’t really beat it for that price. If you are a tinkerer I bet you could modify the canopy and make the battery quickly changeable…buy some extra batteries and fly indefinitely. This is great for younger kids as the controls are scaled down and very controllable. I bought this one for my 7 year old nephew and it is perfect for him. I’d place this one somewhere between a hobby grade helicopter and a toy. If you are looking for more maneuverability and possibly buying other helicopters in the future you might want to go with blade…but the price on this one is so good you really can’t go wrong.

This micro helicopter is awesome and by far the best in its class. It has a gyroscope which makes it much more controllable than other micro helicopters in the price range. The turns are very sharp, when you press the stick to the left, it goes left and immediately stops rotating when you release the control. You can perform cool 180′s if you release the throttle a bit while in a turn. The first micro helicopter I bought was one of syma’s apache helicopters for $20. It was cool, but not half as nice, stable or controllable as the S107. Plus you can charge the helicopter with an included USB cable and save the batteries in your remote controller.

I brought this helicopter to my friends house to show it off, and immediately 3 of my friends ordered a couple. There is a slight learning curve, but much less than that of the $20 range helicopters.

After trying these micro helicopters, I wanted to move on to the next step and I ordered a $100 fixed pitch helicopter as well as a $200 collective pitch helicopter.

I purchased two of these due to their (relative) low price to replace two previously purchased small helis that had been crashed too often.

I had gotten a small Brookstone brand heli and had one of the Air Hogs from WalMart previously. I typically flew/crashed them around the house after dinner to amuse our 2 year old.

I was amazed on my first flight with the S107 as to just how much difference the tiny on-board gyro makes. Previous flights with the non-gyro helis were exercises in minuscule inputs and constant trimming to maintain control. The S107 is an absolute blast to fly as it will hover straight and level essentially “on it’s own” thanks to the gyro.

I purchased two at the same time because I felt I would need to replace the first one in a month or so due to crash damage. I am happy to report that crashes are much fewer and far between thanks to the stability of the S107. It’s a great deal for the $ 29 or so that I paid (with free shipping). So the first one is still going strong with the second yet to leave the box.

My only word of caution would be when flying outside. I can’t recommend it. Even the slightest breeze carries the heli away – with it’s limited forward power unable to work against the breeze. One of my crashes was into our street when I chopped the power as I watched the little copter blow out of our yard on an un-felt breeze!

For those that have had the Brookstone “Silver Bullet” or the 2 channel “Air Hog” this is a wonderful step up for less money!

When I first saw this on amazon I read the reviews and went on you tube to watch people who have got it, everybody in the videos had a smile on thier face like a kid on Christmas day, now I know why.

After waiting for the UPS guy all morning like a child waiting for Santa, It’s here and now I have that very smile !!

Lucky for me it comes with enough charge for a couple minutes of flight before you have to put it on the charger, I think my head would explode if I had to wait another hour to try it.

When you first open the box you can see and feel the quality, very easy to fly, and a absolute blast !!!

Do your inner child a favor and buy this, it will make you smile !!!

    Also FYI,

It takes 6 AA batts. and I didnt see where it said that you needed them, I guess I assumed the controller was rechargable too, luckly I had enough.

Excellent product. I tried flying a RC helicopter for the first time and it is an amazing experience. It took me 10-15 minutes to understand the control. Once you get the hang of it, it is a treat! it is a sturdy piece as I crashed it so many times. The response to the control is amazing and it is a lot of fun. Once charged, it flies for 5-6 minutes. I wish it could last longer. Would recommend buying rechargeable batteries along with it. Must buy!!

This heli is probably the most fun $30 I’ve ever spent. It flies long enough for me to get bored with it, it’s very stable, and very durable. The controls took a bit of learning, but now I’ve got the hang of it and I love flying it around the house.

It’s a great feeling to get better at controlling the helicopter, too. Being able to land it on a small target is a real challenge, but very fun to try. And given how durable the helicopter has proven to be, it’s easy to keep on trying!

I’ve been wanting a little remote control helicopter for a long time, and this one is nearly perfect.

Forget everything you know about toy helicopters. This is a revolutionary change.

Remember when you used to play with a toy helicopter, and it would spin and spin out of control? Then it would go up, then down, then drop?

Hey how about the helicopter made of cheap plastic that just kind of swirled around the room like it was caught in a fishbowl, and no matter what button you pressed on the remote, all you could do was to make it swirl higher or fall?

Okay, forget that. That’s all over now, and forever. This is next-generation technology, and those days are gone for good.

You see, electronic gyroscopes are everywhere now. They’re in your iphone. They’re in your Nintendo controllers… and now they’re in this tiny micro-heli that I cannot possibly call a toy. It’s not a toy.

It’s actually the best micro heli your money can buy, and it’s a STEAL at this price. It would be a steal at $100.

This thing is ROCK solid. Its turns are laser-precise. It’s actually the easiest helicopter to fly *because it does what you want*. Which is: HOLD STILL. It actually holds still. It only turns when YOU want it to turn. It only goes forward or backward when YOU want it to. Elevation/throttle is the only thing that isn’t auto-corrected, but you’ll get the hang of that easily because this baby doesn’t drift.

Watching it in mid-air is kind of spooky… it seems alive. It moves with purpose. It’s the helicopter you always wanted.

And this baby is made of steel. The blades are plastic, but MEGA sturdy, and hinged. I’ve crashed it a lot, and not a bit of damage to it. (buy some spare blades just in case) It’s steel, so it’s sturdy and doesn’t float away on the breeze. It charges in about half an hour, and flys for about 8 minutes.

I’d say this is the toy of the year, and if you are even THINKING of getting this for anyone for XMAS, buy it NOW, because these are going to be hard to find once everyone realizes how amazing they are.

Beware of imitations or even other models from this same manufacturer… Make sure you are getting the one with gyros. Because this is the Gyro revolution.

I have been flying a two channel Air Hogs for about a year, and was amazed when I got this helicopter. The three channel control and gyro make it stable and a bunch more fun! The cats love it as I can hover over them, let them chase it and jump at it, but still have enough control to keep it just out of reach. My grandson can sit on my lap and help me fly it…it is that stable…he is only 7 months old, but with my help he can move the stick as long as I keep him away from the up/down control. Highly recommended for anyone into just having fun with a toy, like this 60 year old grandpa!

Bought this RC Copter based on other reviews and my own rersearch. I have to say – it’s a lot of fun – for about 6 minutes – then you have to charge it for about an hour. Barring that – it is great fun, very durable, VERY CONTROLLABLE, and you’ll be happy with your purchase. I was very surprised by how easy it is to fly and control – no experience neccessary. From the first minute you’ll be flying high – feeling almost like a real helicopter pilot. Had to give it 5 stars – IT’S THAT MUCH FUN!! Pick one up today!

I am a professional mechanical engineer, and wanted to buy something that was fun for my clients’ children to play with indoors. Something with wheels is too slow, an airplane isn’t practical indoors, but this little helicopter is fantastic! It demonstrates gears, servo motors, counter-rotating airfoil blades, control stability, and remote control operation. And it is so easy to use! The built-in gyroscope makes it very stable. Everything on it works as advertised. The instructions are a little difficult (clearly English was not the native language of the writer). Great product, great price.

The only reason I downgraded reliability is because the nature of this product is to take some pretty big hits. So far it’s been great, but I don’t have enough of a track record to say what its longevity will be.

I bought the Syma S022 big chinook before this one and I had not bought an RC Heli before. I thought the bigger Heli would be more stable … boy was I wrong. Not only was the aircraft very unsable, the trim was very difficult to achieve. I finally returned it as it hurt my child with its unpredictable flight characteristics.

The S107 is unbelievably stable … not sure if its the Gyro but the Heli took off from my table and hovered with no adjustment. It took less than an hour ( 4 flights ) to get a pretty good handle on landing this on a designated spot.

Recommend this Heli as a great start before bigger and better things.

This model is extremely easy to fly and lots of fun. I feel like I got my $30 worth. But it is now inoperable, unfortunately.

The blades and balance bar are fine after multiple crashes on furniture, walls, the floor and even a ceiling fan. The body and frame are fine.

Problem 1 was easy to fix. The landing gear broke; not the supports but the skids. My son fashioned a new single piece replacement that extends up to the nose of the body. It actually flew better since the bit of extra weight in the front made it more responsive.

Problem 2 was fatal. We noticed that the rear prop would occasionally dislodge from the tail. The prop is attached to a tiny motor and the motor would slip out of the plastic bracket at the end of the tail. It was easy to just push it back into the cylinder. But the last time it got loose, it actually “flew” out of the bracket and one of the wires broke at the motor. There is no way to fix the wire on that end. The other end of the wires are connected directly to the circuit board. It is not something you can fix (unless you have the kind of soldering tools you need for this kind of micro work).

We have really had fun with it tho, so we will buy another one and use this for spare parts. Everything is fine except for the rear rotor motor and the landing skids. My son completely disassembled it, painted the body pieces and put it back together. That part was a good learning experience.

I’ve tried a few other minis, but I just couldn’t get them to fly straight. It was hard to get the trim right, and it just wouldn’t settle down after any sort of maneuver.

And the 1 hour charge time to get 5 minutes of flying time wasn’t helping my learning curve. I’m looking for a toy, not an avocation.

With the S107, I was able to maneuver around my living room out of the box. And so was my brother, who has never flown a heli before in his life. The hover is dead stable, and the the turns are precise and crisp. I get a little wander when I move forward or back, but nothing compared with minis I paid twice as much for.

It is also fairly durable. The body is almost all metal, and the blades are hinged on the top rotor, so they will give if they strike anything.

And at around $25, it is a great mini for the casual pilot who is looking for point and shoot simplicity.

It flies very good and the gyroscopic action is something. turns on a dime, literally. Gave this as a gift to my fiance who is in his 20′s, and he loves it!!

He has crashed it a bunch learning how to fly it and it is still in perfect shape. He flies it indoors only since with only just a little air movement and it whisks away the helicopter. He only flies it inside since you don’t want fans or air movement, these things will mess with your ability to fly accurately.

When you have the right conditions, the helicopter flies great, and turns on a dime. It came in excellent condition and in the original packaging.

I’d say the infrared is good for 10-15ft, and flying time is 7-10min per charge (it charges for about 1hr before you can fly it – which is good because it makes it so that you don’t loose interest or get bored of it quickly). :)

    A good buy!

The Gyoscope system is awsome. This thing takes off and lands like a real helicoptor. It control is a so simple. You never even have to touch the trim on this guy. My dogs at home thought this thing is alive and stalking them. They give thins thing dirty looks even as it sits on the shelf. It hovers so still and turns on the dime. You can fly this thing thrue hoops if you get comfortable with it enough. Beware of flying to close to walls though. It tends to drift closer then smack into it and crash. Crashing doesn’t bother this thing as well. It’s metel construction is durable. The propellers look fragile but so far so good. If you don’t have the space for adjusting trim. As in an apartment in my case. Then this is the one to get. It so stable I was able to land it on my head! Kids please don’t try that stunt. I practiced all night to make sure I could get it. The propellers can definitly injure you if you not carfull. It’s all fun in games till somone loses an eye. As long as you keep things away from the propellers then your golden. This helicoptor is the best fun yet. Great price. Plus it comes with a USB port charger. How cool is that!

I believe this is THE best toy RC helicopter on the market. It is not the smallest helicopter out there, but small enough to be flown in pretty much any room. The quality is something you wouldn’t expect from a toy in that price range. If you treat the LiPo well, this thing will last and last and last…

As to flying characteristics, it flies like an RC car. It goes where you want it to go and if you do nothing, it will just hover in place. Anybody can fly this thing. The precise control over movements you have with this helicopter is absolutely amazing!

I recommend charging it via the included USB charger plugged into a USB wall adapter (but any computer USB port or powered USB hub will work as well). That way you get consistent charging and save your transmitter batteries.

Minor caveats: Since the remote control is infrared, the LED backlighting in flat panel TVs and strong fluorescent lights may interfere with the remote control and cause you to lose control. So don’t fly too close to your TV or lights. Also, sometimes after crashes the lower rotor comes lose. The symptom is that the helicopter will produces a whining noise and refuse to lift off. Gently pushing down the lower rotors on the shaft fixes the problem.

Lastly, with flight times of 5 to 7 minutes and about 40 to 50 minutes recharging time , you will want at least a second helicopter to get more flight time.

I’ve owned a few Air-Hogs helicopters and for being relatively the same price they are junk compared to this one. The S107 is precise, controllable, durable and best yet, parts are replaceable! In fact I’ve even ordered parts from other helicopters and soldered them on to this heli (larger battery, stronger tail-rotor) and lightened it to increase it’s already stellar performance. In hindsight I had been better off leaving it alone because due to my less-than-stellar soldering skills I’ve rendered this helicopter dead.

However as soon as I scrape together a few extra funds I will be ordering myself another one and not tinkering with it. It is fun enough flying it as is. It is so precise you could (once you get the mad controller skills like mine) fly through obstacle courses and whatnot! I however do not recommend tying a magnet via a string to the bottom of this helicopter to pick up lego-men with paperclips taped to them for the following reasons: 1, the helicopter just isn’t built for that and will not be able to lift any excess weight. 2, if indeed flight is achieved with a dangling appendage, it will become detrimental to the air-worthiness of the S107 as the balance is constantly shifting and were the appendage to get caught on anything it would ground the aircraft almost immediately. 3, upon said inevitable crashing the string WILL get wrapped around the main rotor shaft and lead to at least 10 minutes spent untangling and cursing that could have been spent flying.

This has to be THE BEST thing I’ve ever spent 30 bucks on. Period.

Buy it! This thing is awsome. It works exactly the way you think it should. Its tuff to. My cat loves it. She bats it right out of the air. Godzilla! I read were some people said it was almost to easy. Not realy. It does respond to your controles. Which seems amazing if you ever flew one of the first micro helicopters, but it is still challenging. It is so small and light that a even someone walking by it will add enough turbulence to buffet the thing around a little. Very fun. The battery seems to last longer than the first generation copters also.

I love this helicopter. Since it has a gyroscope, it is very stable and easy to fly compared to other copters of this type. In fact I gave one to my nephew, who is 7 years old. He is very good with video games. With a little instruction and practice, he is able to fly this copter. The only concern here is that he needed to be monitored because the spinning blades can do some damage to fingers and face. He has had his copter for three days now and it is still in one piece, which shows me that it can take a bit of abuse.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2XVG5GNNQQ4J6 This Heli is super stable, the li-po battery last very long but cannot be replaced without soldering unlike the 9098. However, it has the best flight characteristics of all the 3 channel micro coaxial Helis I’ve tried. Its the perfect place to start if new to RC Helis.

This 3 channel Heli is the best that I have ever flown. The gyro makes SO MUCH difference. If you own the S105 as I do, you know that this heli is far and away better in every way. When I say SUPER STABLE that’s exactly what I mean. You will be astounded by it’s stability. The controller to heli response is also far superior to the previous model. BUY THIS HELI.

Wow! What a great little helicopter, thanks to its small size and light weight it is very hard to break. Not to mention the S107 is very stable because of the gyro. I’ve had it for about a month now and not a scratch on it, eventhough it has crashed into fans, barstools etc couple times everyday. I’ve had to make minor trim adjustments on 1 or 2 flights but no repairs. The battery is good for about 8-10 minutes of flying, although, it seems much shorter (time flys when you are having fun).

I know this is an indoor helicopter and many people say it will fly away if used outside because the sun interferes with the infrared signal. Figured I’d test it anyway. The helicopter flies perfect outside as well, although, the range is greatly decreased to about 8-10 feet. At that point, the helicopter loses all signal as drops like a brick. Even more proof of its durability, as it dropped several times onto the concrete and yet still working and no broken parts.

Anyone who gets an S107 will be amazed at the engineering and durability of this helicopter.

I’ve bought 2 other helicopters and one broke because it did not have a gyro and it was hard to control (only wanted to spin around), the other is too big for the motors and can hardly move foward and back.

The battery on the S107 is 3.7v 150mAh and can be replaced to achieve longer flight times or when it no longer holds a charge. Cost of the battery is about $3 (shipped) and 2 minutes to replace

    Unfortunately I am returning mine.

    Pros:

    * GREAT! When it flies correctly.

    * Lots of fun – when it works correctly.

    * Seems well constructed with plastic and metal

    * USB charging

    Cons:

    * Remote has “A B C” settings but actual switch only has two options.

    * The manual needs serious proofreading! Terrible attention to quality and English. Lots of bad grammar and misspellings.

    * I think I had the “rotor shaft” issue that another review mentions – copter would sometimes not be able to fly/take-off even though the rotors would spin.

    * MOST SERIOUS: After a full charge, sometimes the copter just spins its rotors for a fraction of a second and then turns itself off. It’s come to the point where it does this more and more often, and I haven’t had it but a couple of weeks or so. I’d exchange mine and try another but Amazon doesn’t seem to carry it anymore and I can only get a refund.

The Syma S107 is on amazing RC Heli!

The kit includes the Remote, Heli, USB charging wire, Spare tail rotor, and instruction manual. Inside the remote you will find yet another charging wire that will allow you to charge your heli from the remote’s batteries on-the-go.

This little heli is perfect for beginners because it is extremely durable and very easy to fly! This is my first heli and of course I’ve crashed it a lot… including some major crash and burn type slams.. and it KEEPS GOING!!

If you’re new to rc heli’s then you will crash a lot and break parts, but no worries… places like helix.com sells replacement parts for CHEAP!!(like $2.00)… so you’ll always have your heli in the air.

The S107 is also perfect for competent heli enthusiasts. With some simple mods like removing the tail rotor support, little tail wing then gluing a copper *bb* inside the nose of the plastic shell… it becomes a completely different monster… increasing the forward speed and turning radius greatly.

You would have to be a complete moron NOT to pick up this helicopter.

Be careful when you order it, however – they list a couple of items that “go with it” and I found they were the wrong ones! Amazon refunded my money for the additional items, though, and I have found I have not needed them yet. There are other places out there that have replacement parts for this heli, too – [...] is one. Hi

I started flying radio control airplanes clear back in the 1950s.

I haven’t done it for at least 25 years but I decided to buy this Helicopter after getting a less capable one for my birthday.

It was fun but rotated all the time and was hard to control so I researched online and found the Syma S107.

I have over 4 hours air time on this heli now and the thing performs fantastic.

I’m finally getting back to the point that I don’t have to think about which way to push the stick all the time.

It’s very easy to control, durable, a lot of fun, and shows no sign of wear and tear after a lot of use.

The only problem I’ve had with it, is the bottom rotor hub sliding up on the shaft, (a common problem based on other reviews) but as long as I remember to make sure that it is pushed down before I fly it doesn’t seem to be a problem. It has never stopped working during a flight if I haven’t crashed into anything.

I charge it by plugging it into my PC and when it’s charged up and the plug lights up, I quit what I’m doing and go fly it.

Charge time is around 45 minutes and flight time have ranged from about seven minutes to a little over eight.

I fly it 5 or 6 time a day and have demonstrated it for everyone who comes by.

In fact I was so enthused with the performance of this heli, that I ordered a Syma S006J, which is radio controlled so I can fly outdoors in the back yard too!

Then I will be able to get in even more time in the air.

I keep thinking about the fact that I was thrilled as a kid to have something that was powered by a rubber band and flew for 30 seconds.

Boy would I have loved to have this when I was a kid!!!

And just think this thing only costs $3 in 1950s money. LOL

    Mike

I’ve just come back to say that I have now flown my original S107 for months and over 120 flights, (I lost track after that) and it’s still going strong, I have two more of them now (I have one of each color) and have ordered them for a bunch of my friends and all of them are working great.

Couldn’t be happier with a product.

Outstanding product! I’ve had both fuel and electric larger scale RC helicopters and this is a perfect way to relax and/or introduce RC helicopter flying to friends and family. The internal gyro that this heli comes with is definitely worth the small extra price as it flies well indoors and the flashing LED lights are way cool! It looks like something out of the Transformers movies! The USB charger is super convenient as well as being able to have three different channels. You can fly with friends and/or annoy the boss at staff meetings! Quite durable and a perfect first mini indoor heli. Definitely the most fun for the money…I’ll buy more of these for my 13 and 15 year olds. A friend also bought one six months ago for his 8-year old son and says he loves it because it’s so easy to fly. I only wish it flew a little longer than 4 to 5 minutes and the 45 minute charge time is a bit long but worth the wait. Buy this heli!

The thing is a breeze to fly! Mine arrived in perfect condition, and with 3 days of flights w- no crashes the helicopter stopped lifting off & the controller was acting crazy, even after a battery change. Found out the lower rotor shaft has slipped out of place and was not rotating at full speed. A small piece of duct tape has secured the rotor shaft back in place. The rotor shaft thing has been reported in other RC group sites, so buyers should be aware that this may happen to them as well. Now lift off is working again, and will have to see how well the controller works. Overall the best flying helicopter in the price range, but made in China so quality may be questionable.

I previously had the s105 and managed to break one of the screws off of the main shaft within a couple of days of flying it into everything imaginable. I thought that one was fun, then when I was looking to replace it I saw some of the reviews for this one and decided I’d shell out the extra 10 bucks for the better version and I couldn’t be happier that I did. There’s a world of difference between the s105 and the s107. With the s105 you could spend all day trying in vain to find the sweet spot on the trim button to get it so it wasn’t constantly spinning around. With the s107 there’s no need, it’s just dead center the second you fly it. Pushing the left right control to either side results in a precise turn that stops the instant you release the control. The first couple flights with the s105 I think I crashed it 6 times. First flight with the s107, 0 crashes.

I would agree with people who say that the forward momentum could use a little umph. On the s105 it was practically impossible to control it when going forward, so the speed was appropriate. With this one you have enough control that you will be wishing that it would go a little faster.

If you are looking to get something in the entry level and are looking for something that might last I would recommend this one over the s105. The durability of the products are probably the same, but with the s107 you are going to have a lot less crazy crashes.

The Syma S107 is so easy to control that on my first flight I had it tour my whole apartment, zooming in and out of closets and never touching an obstacle until I deliberately landed it. If you’ve never flown a good RC heli before, you might need to practice a bit. It might be your second or third flight before you get that good.

The S107 is *really* that easy to control.

I’m sure that many of you have played with Air Hogs and other micro helis and you long for a little heli that just plain flies where you want it to fly and stays up in the air. I’m here to tell you that such perfection is within your grasp.

Before I got my S107, I already owned two Syma S105s and I never get tired of flying them. They look almost identical to the S107 and the remote is identical, but they take a little bit of skill to fly with precision and I’ve made little tweaks here and there to get better control.

The S107 takes almost no skill to fly. They gyro makes it laughably easy to control. Just use it indoors, get it about 4 feet off the ground so that ground-effects don’t mess with it, fly it a decent distance from air conditioning vents and the thing moves like it’s hanging from a string on a stick.

That perfection is, perhaps, its one big flaw.

The thing is, I think the S105 is a bit more fun to play with. The S105 needs careful trimming at the beginning of each flight. The S105 tends to make broad turns, but pulls out sharply, risking blade-strikes, unexpected changes in direction and the occasional crash. It’s incredibly easy to fly the S105, but even so every time that I fly one I grow more skillful with it.

The S107 just plain works. It goes where I point it.

I made one little change to my S107, taping a paperclip to the front to help it move forward more easily. That’s the sum of all modifications that I made to mine. I can’t find anything else to tweak. That’s awesome. It’s amazing. It’s a fun thing to play with and the feeling of exhilaration endures even after many flights.

    I heartily recommend this heli.

…But if you want a similar heli that’s similarly amazing yet introduces a smidgen of challenge to each flight, consider the S105 as well.

–SUPER FUN! (A guy showed up to the office with one of these and it was so fun; EVERYONE here has one now, some have 3 or 4!)

–Flying skills get better and better over time. I couldn’t fly anything before this, now i’m well versed in RC controllers.

–Inspirational. Since i’ve had this my interest in other hobbies such as acft, and rc rock crawling have really taken off. I will never be bored again, so long as i have a little helicopter to try to land on CPUs and other surfaces! lol.

    Cons:

–lightweight. don’t try to fly outside, or even near an a/c unit! A small breeze will blow this thing into oblivion.

    Bottom line: Amazing little toy.

TIPS: PLEASE READ–this helicopter has a gyro system. you must set the helo on a flat surface and turn it on, and wait for the green light on the back of th canopy to stop blinking before you can fly. if your helo doesn’t take off when you give it throttle, it means the bottom blades are slipping. never fear. it will still fly. just raise the throttle on the controller slowly and the helo will take off like normal. IF you woule like the helo to go forward faster, remove the tail fin that hangs underneath the tail motor. we all did that to ours and prefer it that way.

A few things to keep in mind:

    * When you’re first learning to use this helicopter, stay low to the floor!!

    * The helicopter does not take off from carpet very well (if at all)

    * When my LCD flatscreen TV is on this helicopter is non-functional

    * Practice goes a long way with this toy. It’s more fun the more you use it

This is my first RC aircraft of any sort. I was looking for something relatively cheap but not delicate and impossible to control. I’d say I succeeded!

For starters – this thing takes a little practice. It was so hard for me at first that I was actually disappointed with the helicopter. I flew it once per day for about a week… by the end of that first week I no longer had control problems and it’s very fun now!

The helicopter doesn’t seem as stable as it could be… after moving forward/backward it tends to oscillate but this can be dealt with if you practice. Other than that I’d say it’s about perfect. The blades haven’t given or received any damage – and I’ve hit plenty of hard objects (tables, etc).

I had never flown an RC helicopter before but I’ve seen them around for a couple years. This one was surprisingly easy to control considering I had never flown any of these before. So easy in fact I bought a red one right away.

As soon as I got home I charged it up and got maybe 10 minutes of flight time, crashed it a few times but it’s been fine so far. Really fun to fly!

The box says ages 14+ I think if your kid has OK Hand Eye coordination or has plenty of space to fly outside even a 10 year old could be just fine. Indoors though might be more of a challenge.

    The only downsides have been

    a) The price at the fair was $49.95..had I known it was up on amazon I would have bought it here for $10 less.

    b) It would be nice if there was some indicator on when it was finished charging

    c) Of course a longer flight time or shorter battery charge would be nice

But I’m not downgrading for those issues as I have no other copters to compare it to. For the price though this seems like a great toy!

I’ve purchased about 10 RC helicopters over the past year, primarily the cheaper AirHogs with the Styrofoam bodies. They didn’t seem to last more than an hour or so, so I decided to splurge on a more expensive helicopter. I’m not sure if this product was on sale or what, but it wasn’t much more than the AirHog and is clearly a much better constructed helicopter–there is really no comparison on the ruggedness.

I was a bit surprised to see that it was an infrared wireless rather than RF, though I suppose I shouldn’t have been. The description doesn’t explicitly state IR, but if it doesn’t say RF I should assume it’s IR. The result, as some have noted, is occasional erratic behavior under florescent lighting (I use CFL quite extensively around my house).

It is very stable and easy to hover. Very good for beginner flyers like me. The downside to this is maneuverability. Overall a very good product for the price.

If you’re looking for an indoor heli, this is the one to get, hands down. I bought a different brand earlier and it was incredibly unstable – it kept spinning and I couldn’t achieve true controlled flight. The S107 by contrast was very stable right out of the box, thanks to the built-in gyroscope. When it first lifted off, it had a VERY SLIGHT tendency to rotate, which I was immediately able to correct by tweaking the trim on the remote. After the initial hover and adjustment, it’s been one controlled flight after another. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being able to fly it inside our house, and even though I’ve crashed it a couple of times as a result of over-estimating my own piloting abilities, it’s proved to be quite sturdy and dependable. The only caveat to my positive review is that it is pretty slow in forward flight, but frankly I wouldn’t want it to be any faster given the size of our house. You’d only want it to be faster if you were flying it in a large hall.

Net net, it’s worth every penny of its price, and you shouldn’t even CONSIDER paying 5 or 10 dollars less for something that’s less stable. There’s no point in getting an RC helicopter if you’re not going to be able to control it. Happy flying!

I bought this as my second heli. My first was a cheap air hogs. Based on the reviews, this one seemed like the best option in the price range. The reviews were right. This thing is great; flying it is a breeze. It’s stable on its own, making it easy to hover. Maneuvering is also smooth. I’ve crashed it quite a number of times when using it in a small room the first day. Aside from a small chip on the corner of the balancing arm (fixed with some super glue), everything else is without a glitch. Took very little time to get used to flying.

Flying time has been around 8-15 minutes. The charge seems to take quite a bit more time, though. Not really a problem, especially with the usb charger (much better than discharging the remote batteries).

All around, I’m extremely satisfied with it. It’s worth every penny. I plan on buying a few more of these in the future. Great to let off some steam too :)

Helicopter was a great buy. For only $30, got a very stable and easy to fly helicopter. This is great for anyone moving up from a 2Ch helicopter or even for anyone who never flew one before.

The main structural components are made out of metal, so it won’t break very easily. The rotors them selves aren’t like that flexible plastic found on the AirHogs helis, but a much lighter and harder material. My first impression is that the rotors seem brittle, but so far that does not seem to be the case.

However, my helicopter does suffer from some drawbacks.

Firstly, during hover, my heli seems to suffer from TBE (toilet bowl effect). While in hover, it experiences an undamped oscillation, that is, it starts to move in a circle, with the nose pointing in the same direction, almost like something being washed down a toilet. I’ve been reading much into it, and it’s caused by a problem in the Fly-Bar. It may be unbalanced, or too snug, but it seems to be over-correcting. Various forums suggest different fixes such as removing one of the two linkages, or sanding down surfaces for less friction. I have not tried any fixes yet.

Secondly, there is a widely known mechanical flaw with this model. The lower rotor head may become loose from the rotor shaft. Symptoms include loss of power, and inability to climb. If you think thats the problem you can check by holding the respective gear at the bottom, and *gently* turn the lower rotor, if the rotor spins freely independent of the attached gear, then you’ve got a problem.

Sometimes the problem can be fixed by simply pushing down firmly on the top of the rotor head. You can see through the semi-clear rotor head and see a small gap, when pressed down, it will click and there will be no more gap. This usually fixes the problem on my helicopter. However, crashing it, or too fast on the throttle can dislodge it again.

You can also fix this problem by gluing the rotor head to the shaft. But do not glue it on the bottom, as the shaft on the bottom is actually a stationary brushing, it does not spin. Gluing it here will prevent your blades from moving.

I’ve found these recommendations on [...]

Also, do NOT buy the replacement rotors and tail pieces suggested by Amazon! These are meant for helicopters such as the 2Ch Airhogs Heli. The tail rotors may work, but the main rotors are not the kind used on the S107.

I picked up a syma S011 a month or so ago just on a whim, wanted something to play with indoors…

well after a bit I was able to maintain control…. sometimes,

anyways I ordered a S107 from a HK vendor, it arrived today

All i can say is wow!!!!!

Its not near as fast as the S011 but geeze, its soooo much more controllable. With the S011 it would start spinning anytime it encountered any turbulence, be it from flying over furniture, getting close to walls, floor, ceiling or an over correction. It was very unstable… and kind of a PITA to fly.

Not the 107, this thing is rock steady…almost too steady LOLOLOL, it is a little slow… but looking through the postings I see a mod for that if desired.

Anyways, as a total newbie to micros all i can say is wow what a deal!

This is my first RC indoor helicopter and I’m very pleased with it. The instructions are hard to read because of bad translating but you can figure out most stuff. I would recommend a good Mini Philips head screwdriver just to do minor maintenance not that I’ve had to do any yet. The thing flies forward about 1 to 2 miles per hour. Not that fast so easy to control. Has a small learning curve to fly but you can get the knack in a few flights. I’ve crashed this plenty of times and it still flies great. I charge through my computers USB port no problem. The plug that goes into your USB port will Light up, it’s the only light that will let you know what’s going on. Plugging into your USB will light it up to glow red. Then plugging into your helicopter the light goes out. When the helicopter is done charging, the light comes on again. I still haven’t figured out how to charge it using the transmitter as I’ve not done it yet. But the wires are there if I wanted to. This is a great Toy.

I’ve been flying RC planes and I was looking into expanding my hobby to helicopters. I already own 4 helicopters out of which two are Walkera..well.. this heli is the king of the castle..making Walkera look like ordinary toys.. Coaxial design plus the gyro!!..it’s super stable and extremely easy to fly!! The whole family will love it, including your dog.(if you have one). It’s somehow limited to extreme maneuvers but that’s a plus for a beginner.5 stars for the price/quality ratio!!!

I have had this heli for a couple weeks now and I fly it a few times a week, often multiple times in a day. This heli is extremely stable and easy to fly. It is a bit slow as others have mentioned, but that’s usually not a bad thing when flying indoors. I had a cheaper off-brand 3 channel heli that did NOT have a gyro and the difference is night and day. The heli is very durable as well. I have had my share of crashes and so far, nothing has broken. Spare parts are available just in case though. The USB charger is a neat feature as well.

I just bought this based on the good reviews here. I guess people should be talking about mechanical pros (stability, durability, etc.). But I found it inferior electrically. Most importantly so far I have tried it like 10 times and it’s worked only twice. The transmitter’s LED blinks which I guess means that it cannot detect the helicopter. There are other problems as well (some of them could be just my unit):

1- The USB charger has such a poor quality on both ends. On the helicopter end it falls off with the slightest touch. On the computer side its LED light turns on and off by simply touching the cable. The manual says that “Put the USB charging wire into the computer USB interface, the charging wire will be light. Put the other side of the USB charging wire into the helicopter’s interface, USB charging wire light will be turn[ed] off. The charging time is about 40-50 minutes. Charging wire light will turn on. Then the helicopter is fully charged.” But I can turn it on and off any time I wish by just touching it.

2- The manual says “Set the Band Selector on the Transmitter and Helicopter to the same frequency.” There is simply no band selector on the helicopter.

3- This is called a 3-channel helicopter and there is indeed a selector on the transmitter with three letters A, B and C. But you can move it only between two positions: “half-way between A and B” to “half-way between B and C”!

4- This is not a serious problem but an ugly design: The battery compartment is opened by a screwdriver. Inconvenient if you want to store your 6 AA batteries for an extended time.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1R6XQY46ZBABG I am not a Heli expert but can say I have owned an Electric Falcon with Auto Pilot ($250-350), a Coco Lama (great heli $75) and the first micro heli($19). The s107 is fun and VERY stable, you really can’t ask for more, it will go back and forward very easily, it would literally be a work of engineering at this price if it had better turning. Let me explain- it vertical controls are quick and presice, it goes up and down very easy and with power, it turns to the right or left by a light touch. What it is lacking is horizontal yaw. But guess what it’s a toy and so cheap that I must say outside of this it’s a blast! I love my Coco Lama, its bigger and worth every penny, yet this micro is sturdy and has great controls, it’s a steal for 30-35 total, its built very well and strong, I truly believe its going to be around a long time and if not the parts are cheap. I truly believe it could go for $70-100 so it’s the best bang for the buck! I hear there is a walker out there that is great but its $100. I question how much better and fully applaud Syma and Xheli for making it cheap. I also feel it’s a great learner heli, oh yes. You get this thing down when you step up will have the basics down. BUY it! For this price it’s a 5 You will not be wasting money its worth every penny!

The excellent plus point with respect to others is, It can be charged via a USB. Charging via USB takes approximately 45minutes for a flight time of about 10mins.

Its really joy to play with this toy. Comes in a ready to fly kit and with little adjustment in the remote, it works like a breeze. I am just loving it.

TIP: (Gives you ~5-8 mins of flying time with very high performance) Charge it for a good 2-3 hours then check for the light intensity on the USB, if the light while charging matches the light that the usb gives off while not connected to the heli then its fully charged.

I have purchased about 6 various micro helicopters and so far this S107 is my favorite. It is extremely stable and easy to fly, the best I have seen!

I would not recommend any other helicopter over this one, however here are the problems:

    1. There are only two bands, not three. This means that two controllers and two helicopters can be controlled correctly, but you cannot fly a third helicopter at the same time because the controllers will interfere.

    2. Battery life is maybe 4-5 minutes, not the 6-8 minutes as advertised

This is my first Amazon product review. Normally the existing reviews cover my thoughts sufficiently or I just don’t feel very strongly good, bad or otherwise about products. I shop carefully and generally I get what I’m expecting. No more, no less.

That was so far from the truth with regard to the Syma S107 heli that I simply had to share my thoughts. I’ve been an RC fan since I was a boy, starting with electric trucks then nitro trucks and eventually worked into flying 1:10 scale planes at the local AMA field with my dad and brother. Back in those days, there were a few brave (and I presume affluent) souls who flew nitro powered helis, but I knew how hard they were to fly and assumed I’d probably never have the chance. So when I noticed these “toy” helis entering the market and gaining traction, I kept a skeptical eye on it. However, after reading enough reviews about the S107, and seeing THE PRICE! I had to take a chance. So I ordered one, figuring I might get a few minutes of entertainment from it before either getting bored, giving up, or picking up its pieces.

I have never been so glad to be wrong. This micro heli is amazing. Truly. Decades of physics, chemistry, and precision manufacturing research and experience have culminated in what would have been considered a miracle a hundred years ago. Probably considered unthinkable by many only 20 years ago. For the price of 10 lattes you have a miniature helicopter capable of sustained, self balancing hover with decent climb, pitch and bi-directional pivot. And most importantly, it really is so easy to fly that anyone can do it. I know they say 14 y/o on the box, and that seems pretty reasonable, but my daughter is three and I’ve let her run the cyclic control while I managed the throttle and she was able to maneuver around the room with little guidance. She also got bored after 20 seconds and moved on to something else. But I kept flying. I can’t put this thing down.

    Pros:

    * Very easy to fly/learn.

    * Self balancing / hover stability is excellent.

    * Very maneuverable for what it is.

    * Controls are self explanatory.

    * Charging is easy and convenient.

    Cons:

    * Short battery life (though, if it weren’t for this, I’d never get anything done).

    * Will make you want more.

The biggest drawback I’ve uncovered from owning this little gem is that now after flying it so much and pushing the limits of what it can do, I find myself desperately wanting to move up to more advanced micro helis. In other words, it’s so fun to fly I’m becoming infatuated.

My wife loves flying it, too and she’s never shown any interest in R/C in the past.

I’ve been looking for something like this for many years. I took my birthday money from a grandparent and spent it on the helicopter. Everything was fine other than the counter weights on the stabilizer bar on top of the rotor. Evidently, when the toy was manufactured…they tightened the mounting screws in the plastic too hard and cracked it. So, when the toy arrived I had to use duct tape to hold it together before I could use it. When it was charged and flying it was and ABSOLUTE BLAST!!! Very responsive, and EASY to control. I got the toy on a friday and by the time the following Monday rolled around the battery would NOT charge right and hold a charge. It would charge for a few minutes and give a green light that it was done, but the charge was not enough to fly the toy for more than a minute or two. Another thing that I must note, is the helicopter DID NOT come with a USB charger. I looked back at all the advertising as well as the marketing on the box that it arrived in…and everything indicated there was a USB charging cable to use with a computer. Nothing. I had to call FRY’S electronics to see if they had something I could use. The remote for the toy is cheap plastic junk. Mine sounded like it had loose parts rattling around every time I picked it up.

The bottom line is the toy didn’t last the weekend and I had to try out the AMAZON return policy for the very first time. I’ve been shopping with them since the beginning and never had to send back anything. I got a full refund as the toy didn’t qualify for a replacement. I have to say, I was SUPER excited to get this helicopter…but tremendously let down when it didn’t make it through the first weekend. When it did fly, it was wonderful. This item is highly susceptible to variations in air movement as well as when flying too close to walls and other things. When learning to use it, I highly suggest flying it in a carpeted room with little to no obstacles.

OK, I’ve had these $30 helis before. Bought 3 for my 3 boys last year, all of them were hard to control and broke within a month or so. I’ve now had this Syma Metal Gyro heli for about 4 weeks, and have flown it for at least 25 charge cycles. Love it! Crashed into everything, including my own leg, and it keeps on flying. The designers were smart – the blades are all mounted on pivots so when its not flying they can fold back on themselves (looks kind of funny when you take it out of the box – the blades look like they are not mounted yet). When powered up, centrifugal force keeps them out straight and flying. If you hit something, they don’t break, they sort of fold back (also hurts less when it hits your leg!). Of course, with a folded ‘wing’ you crash, but this thing is so light you just pick it up and start flying again. I remain amazed that anyone can manufacture this thing for $30, tons of aluminum parts, awesome gyro for stability, great looking cowl and flashing LED lights, good transmitter range and decent battery life. Everything is proportional (variable speed, not just on/off) – rotor speed (up/down), rate of rotation (for left/right), and tail rotor speed (tilts the heli for front and back motion). Takes a few runs to learn good throttle control (flying in 3D takes some practice), and maximum forward speed is not fast. But, since I don’t want to careen into the back of anyone besides me – that’s not a bad thing.

Also – another great design idea – the heli will charge from a USB port, so it just sits by my laptop when I’m charging it. Flies about 7 minutes on a 20 – 30 minute charge (USB). Will also charge from the remote, if you don’t have USB handy. Still on the first set of AA batteries in the remote.

This remote is IR – light waves – not radio waves. So, you have to keep line of sight. A couple of times I flew from my living room to the kitchen and watched it die at the far end of the kitchen (~25 feet away) when it lost signal. No damage. Also, watch your fingers, you can cover the transmitter ‘window’ on the remote, too. There is an ABC channel switch on the remote, and I assume different color (red, yellow & blue) are on different frequencies.

I can land this thing on anything about the size of a magazine, smaller is tougher (practice with a magazine on the floor or a table – gives you somewhere to land if you miss). My kids love to pick it up and let me take off from their hands! Landing on their hands (I’ve tried many times) is tougher. Some day.

Now they are all learning on mine (it has become the crash trainer, I guess), so we’ll be buying 3 more soon! Box says ages 14 and up, my guys are 11 and under. For $30, you won’t go wrong – these things are a blast.

To everyone who has ever owned a havoc heli, you need to buy one of these.I have owned 8 or so havocs and i have to say this thing blows them out of the water right out of the box.I have owned mine now for about a month and have yet to need to adjust the trim. When you turn a havoc heli it has a bit of an over steer, where it continues to turn after you stop turning. The syma has none of that problam, you twitch the stick over and the heli twitches that way then stops turning…just like that, no lag.On the controll the left stick controlls your hight, while the right stick controlls turning plus your forward and revers. The props on the syma are not fixed, sort of like the breakaways on the big havoc, except these are loose all of the time.these loose props are sweet,if you bump the wall they give way so your less likely to damage them, but then momentum brings them back into shape so you dont crash.Similar to the havoc there is a spring on the left stick,so that noobs dont keep the throttle on when they crash. However to me this is anoying,so like the havoc this is easy to remove…a few screws and it pulls right off.

For 30 bucks, this thing is THE BEST on the market of micro 3 channel helicopter:

+THE LOOK: one word – Beautiful, this is one of those few times when ‘made in china’ is not crappy as common knowledge. It look solid as many high end larger heli, yet light AND durable. Definitely the most crash resistant out of any 3CH micro helicopter. Picture is quite nice, but it look much better in real life.

+FLYING: It is just plain fun and simple to fly. No set up required, no experience required. Just fly after charging the heli for 30-40 minutes. You get about 5-6 min of play time. Do NOT go over 5 min as you could damage the battery by way of over-discharging. As soon as you feel the power of elevation is weak – land it, let the battery cool down, and charge. Overall, very very stable. Some people might want more forward speed, but I don’t see any reason why as this is for INDOOR only (if desire, you could add some small weight to the nose and it’ll flight a bit faster).

+PARTS REPLACEMENT: Plentiful and cheap online. This especially needed for the tail motor, blades and fly bar. The point is, if this break, you can fix it for very cheap. Though this thing is so tough, you might never need to repair it if the crash is not too severe.

I must warn you, this is the only good Syma helicopter. Any larger Syma heli tends to have problems overtime. So if you ever planned to touch the name SYMA, Buy the S107. You will love it and will fly it for a long long time.

I’ve bought some helicopters in this price class before, and had fun with them but they easily break. This model I saw at a fair for $60 and almost bought it, but thought I’d check Amazon at home. Really glad I did as it is 1/2 the price here. For this price point it is really really good!

The gyroscope is incredible – while the ‘up’ and ‘down’ takes a bit of work (due to any breezes in the house or propeller wash on objects) the left, right turn is precise and almost eerie: it points and just stays pointed in the direction you command! If you are gentle on the controls after a few minutes you can do fairly precise landings and navigation throughout the house, and hover with just one hand on the stick (up/down).

I’ve crashed a few times – and so far no damage. I’ve flown it outside but any breeze, however minor – can take this model away from your control. That said, I’ve flown it outdoors on a very still day and it seems to work. However the IR range isn’t too far with the light and the model will suddenly ‘drop’ occasionally; really this is for indoor use.

I would recommend this model – lots of fun to fly and well worth the price!

There are a lot choices in this segment of RC helicopters but the Syma S107 is one of the finer ones to consider. Very easy to fly and control; not a very fast forward flyer but if you will be flying this in any typical home you will find this characteristic quite attractive.

The balance bar can be fragile so buy extras (along with main blades and the tail rotor blade) – I broke mine on the third flight (my fault) and it was easily replaced. There is a suggestion to upgrade the battery from 150mah to 240mah for longer and more powerful flights but that takes a little skill but seems to be worth the effort (have not done this yet but might do this in the future).

We are up to acquiring over 14 of these at the office (I have 3) and have found several to be defective out of the box. So far the sellers are slow to respond but the issues are manufacturing related so not sure how much they could really do except for a straight exchange which gets tricky with shipping costs and such. However, we have found that they can repaired with skills that involve some patience and soldering talents; spares parts are readily available at a variety of sites (beyond just the rotors, balance bar, and tail rotor) so this heli is still a good model to consider.

Right out of the box, this flew EXCELLENT! The first thing I noticed is how responsive the left/right direction control is. It was like I was playing a video game. Turn left, stop. Turn right, stop. Amazing!

I purchased this after owning two Air Hogs for indoor flying. The thing about Air Hogs is that they do not have a forward/backwards control. They simply go slowly forward (most of the time), and you have up/down and left/right. How I was pleasantly surprised is that this helicopter has a forward/backward control that is integrated into the left/right control–which I didn’t know when I purchased it. The up/down control is also nice and it is easy to keep the heli hovered exactly where you want it.

My son is 7 years old, and after just a minute of coaching, he was flying it better than me. Now, he also plays a lot of video games, so that helps. He was also familiar with the Air Hogs and how to fly those. Anyways, once he got the hang of it, it was easy for him.

I just looked at the price of the Air Hogs Havoc Heli Orange/Grey and it was $28.21. I bought this New Syma 3 Channel S107 for $32.25. Only four extra dollars and well worth it–go with this one!

The only way they could improve this helicopter is to make the battery last longer. Seems like it only lasted for about 10 minutes before it was ready for a recharge…. but that seems to be fairly standard for all the light-weight indoor helicopters.

I took this out of the box, charged it for a few minutes, and flew it, and it HOVERS IN ONE SPOT, didn’t even have to adjust the trim. I like that the turning function just rotates him in-place (instead of “swaying” left/right). Super easy to control….I’m very impressed. This thing is a real blast with a short learning curve. Make no mistake this is a toy but it’s very durable. After plowing into a wall a few times and flying into the ceiling it holds together well. I didn’t need to buy the replacement blades but there nice to have handy in case it gets stepped on or some other tragic event.

My one and only complaint is the short flying time between charges. About eight minutes in my case. I’m already thinking about buying another one so my Son will have one to play with because I’m sure not giving mine up.

This S107 is SO EASY to fly, it puts the fun back into having a toy. Very well designed as it doesnt even need trimming ( ok, maybe once but nothing like the others). I have crashed it a few times into the wall, table and etc and still flys great! ( Best $30 I have spent in a long time ). Now I may be 41 but I am not dead ( still a kid at heart :) ) as I do like “toys” from time to time as I hope this one stays flying for a long time. I like the USB charging, takes around 30min to charge and does last about 10 min. I have only had it for a few days, and I’m sure I’ll break something on it soon, but it’s a great purchase regardless.

It’s true that you are missing a few axis of control that you would have on much higher prices helis, but the gyro on this model makes it very easy and fun to control for beginners. I hesitated to purchase it because I couldn’t imagine that it would be worth the money – but it definitely is.

As other reviewers have pointed out, this heli beats the pants off of Air Hogs models that cost twice as much.
